A few months ago my friend Suzanne of Your Shop Girl who is an image consultant in Toronto, told me about a Workshop she would be hosting in Prince Edward County.  I jumped on board right away because not only do I really enjoy Suzanne and benefit from her awesome workshops and advice, she was partnering up with the ladies at Smithery Style whom I adore as well!

I wrote about all of these lovely ladies HERE for my “A Quick Spring Fashion Fix” Post.
This retreat was not only about style, it was mainly about spending the weekend with like-minded women and enjoying a weekend away that was all about ourselves.  Prince Edward County is also a foodie hot-spot right now so I had to be part of this.

The weekend began on Friday night, when we arrived at The June Motel.  We all conversed over wine and chats with Natalie of My Little Secrets and Roxanne of Bonjour Bliss Blog — and a delicious picnic basket full of goodies from Picnic PEC — in the lobby of the June Motel.  This place screams girls weekend – I enjoyed how retro and fun they made this space.  The rooms are fun and spacious!  I like that there was a kitchenette and some really fun design aspects to each room.

One of the great features of this workshop is that Suzanne had us fill out a style survey.  Upon our arrival, there was a box of three clothing items that we could purchase specially curated with the girls at Smithery Style to fit our wishes and our body shape.  I absolutely loved everything in my box: Waxed Basic Pant, Right This Way Angle Sweater and Vialla Cut Out Sweater!  I also went home with this amazing jacket called the Stockport SweaterCoat too – I haven’t stopped wearing it since I picked it up!  Smithery set up a pop-up shop right in their motel room.  What’s better than late night shopping trips with great friends and some rose?

The next day Suzanne, our gracious host, served us breakfast at our rooms.  A selection of yogurt, granola and fruit!  Each room had a coffee maker too!  After breakfast we headed to the Drake Devonshire for brunch and a style workshop with Suzanne.  I love her workshops because you get you to hone in on your style instead of just shopping per need and not really focusing on your overall style.  She helps you design your capsule wardrobe so that you can use the pieces you have efficiently and every purchase you make becomes well thought out and fits in the capsule.  I always feel so inspired and enlightened after spending some time with Suzanne – she’s so great at what she does!

We had some free time to explore Main Street in Prince Edward County so I went to visit my friends at Midtown Brewing Co.  Lucky me, I got to try their pumpkin-spiced beer and their new breakfast menu.  The place was SO packed!  It was barely lunch time!  Their House made granola and yogurt bowl from their new Breakfast Menu was delicious – I’m making beer and breakfast a new thing!

Next, no trip to Prince Edward County would be complete without a wine tour!  We visited Huff Estates Winery and The Grange of Prince Edward.  Huff Estates Winery had some great white wines.  They were very clear that you don’t go to Prince Edward County for bold red wines because they are not very bold due to the weather there.  The grapes have a high water content which makes for very light red wines.  I loved our tour of The Grange of Prince Edward.  They showed us their cellars and then gave us a local cheese and charcuterie picnic basket where we got to DIY our own charcuterie and cheese board.  When our board was complete, we tried a selection of wines with it – it was a great experience!

We ended the evening with pizza, beer and a paint night!  The lovely Lucy Akins of Craft Berry Bush brought us paint kits and we got to get creative.  It was a great way to end this fabulous girls weekend!

There was a private yoga class the next morning at our motel but unfortunately I had to get home.  Thanks to Suzanne of Your Shop Girl for inviting me to this amazing girls weekend.  Anyone who is into style, great food and spending a weekend away, all for yourself, with a fun group of girls — would love this workshop!  There’s another Prince Edward County Workshop available in the Spring – more details about this and all of Suzanne’s amazing Workshops are available HERE.
With Love,
Julie
