Taste Of The Place, A Global Food Experience
As I mention on my “About Julie” page, I take great pride in supporting women who are following their passion in life and working really hard to meet their goals. I’m sure many of you out there have had dreams of publishing a cookbook of your very own. Creating a cookbook is not easy. Publishing a cookbook is not easy. Marketing a cookbook…you get the point! I was recently introduced to Julie Cockburn of Taste Of The Place. Julie has been working incredibly hard at publishing her first cookbook “Taste of The place: A Global Food experience”, however, she has run into a few hurdles on her journey.
Why Julie Needs Help
Producing a cookbook is surprisingly expensive! Even with print-on-demand, the upfront costs can be quite a hurdle.
To do it right requires an investment of both time and money. The major expenses for this project include –
- food for recipe testing and photography
- proofreading and editing fees
- cover design
- Kickstarter, and processing fees
- printing and shipping
The cookbook is not available in stores yet. Julie has a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds so that Taste of the place can be published. This is where you come in! If you are interested in receiving a copy of this cookbook then head over to the Kickstarter page and pledge! Also, follow Taste of the place on Facebook to keep up-to-date on the campaign.
About Julie Cockburn
Julie Cockburn is a food photographer, writer, and REAL food advocate at TasteOfThePlace.com. She believes food has the power to create healing, connections and beauty in people’s lives, and has made it her mission to inspire individuals to have an adventure with food. About the Book
Food should be a fun adventure, opening us to new experiences, and connecting us to other people, places, and cultures. The soon-to-be-released cookbook, “Taste Of The Place, A Global Food Experience”, does just that.
Food photographer and writer, Julie Cockburn, in partnership with 13 other food writers from around the world, is building global connections between regional food cultures and family tables everywhere with her soon-to-be-released cookbook, Taste Of The Place, A Global Food Experience. You will explore 14 different areas of the world, some more familiar such as the Southwest US and Italy, some more exotic like Kenya and Jordan, getting a glimpse into their unique food cultures, along with a series of recipes to create one complete meal from each region. Engaging stories and beautiful photography invite you to explore each region, while enticing recipes draw you into the kitchen to start your own food adventure.
As Prachi Grover, contributor for India, beautifully states in her chapter about the Indian kitchen, “Be it everyday life, festivals, celebrations, religious offerings or even mourning, there is no facet of our lives that is untouched by food… Culture, colors and the chaos. Sights, sounds and the smells. Festivals, faiths and the food. I love it all, and what is truly special is that all of these change every few miles.”
Julie is currently taking pre-orders, and seeking additional funding through a pre-launch campaign at kickstarter.com. Search “Taste Of The Place” on kickstarter.com to find the campaign, or go directly to The Kickstarter Page . “Taste Of The Place, A Global Food Experience” will be available for purchase at amazon.com and TasteOfThePlace.com Autumn, 2015.
A delicious recipe that will be in this exciting new cookbook:
How you can Support the Project
For me, what made me want to help out with this project, wasn’t just the fact that it is an international cookbook, it was because it has recipes from other countries that most people wouldn’t think of when they think of food. Taste of The Place: a global food experience has recipes from Romania, Czech Republic, & Jordan. These are places people would have to spend thousands of dollars to travel to but now you can have authentic foreign cuisine without leaving your home!
Wednesday, June 3rd is the deadline to pledge – here is the link for more information and to send in your pledge: A Taste Of The Place: A Global Food Experience Cookbook Kickstarter Campaign Page.
Great food advocates need to support each other – let’s make this happen! Thanks for reading and sharing!
Warm Regards,
Jules
