This recipe was shared with me by my friend Nikki. This is an old family recipe of hers and she makes these every year during the holidays. I loved the recipe so much that I had to share it with all of you! I added candied ginger and cardamom into these ginger squares because I love a spicy, ginger-y square. The cream cheese icing does a great job of balancing the spice, so it is a must, and it also adds a creamy, sweet touch to these squares!
